The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and assisting in budget preparation. This role requires strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely. The Accountant will report directly to the Finance Manager and collaborate closely with other departments to support business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Maintain general ledger accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and assist in tax preparation.
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Conduct variance analysis between actual results and budgeted figures.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support external auditors during audits.
  • Monitor accounts payable/receivable processes to ensure timely payments.
  • Collaborate with project managers to track project costs against budgets.
  • Provide financial insights to management for strategic decision-making.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting regulations.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or finance roles within the construction or engineering sector is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) as well as Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS) and tax regulations.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal for effective collaboration across departments.
