The Senior Architect Design Review role involves reviewing, approving, and optimizing architectural designs for large-scale construction projects.

The role ensures that all designs align with project specifications, client requirements, and regulatory standards.

This position requires extensive collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and effective stakeholder management to deliver high-quality, compliant architectural solutions.

Responsibilities:

     Architectural Design Review and Approval:

  • Review and approve architectural designs submitted by consultants, ensuring alignment with project specifications, client requirements, and local regulations.
  • Assess designs for practicality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness, providing expert feedback to improve overall project outcomes.
  • Ensure all designs comply with international best practices, local building codes, and regulatory standards, while maintaining the project’s architectural integrity.
  • Coordination with Design and Construction Teams:
  • Collaborate with design disciplines, including structural and MEP engineers, to ensure architectural designs are integrated into the overall project.
  • Facilitate collaboration between architectural design and construction teams, ensuring seamless execution on-site without conflicts or delays.

Quality Control and Compliance:

  • Implement quality control measures to ensure all architectural designs meet high standards of accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct regular design audits to ensure adherence to client and regulatory standards, identifying and addressing any issues early in the process.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, zoning laws, and sustainability requirements.

Technical Problem Solving:

  • Resolve architectural design issues that arise during the review and construction phases, working with the design and construction teams to implement efficient and cost-effective solutions.
  • Provide architectural expertise in evaluating complex design challenges and guiding projects toward feasible, aesthetically pleasing, and compliant solutions.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of all design review activities, including approvals, revisions, and recommendations.
  • Ensure architectural design documents are catalogued, up to date, and submitted according to project timelines.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for architectural design queries from the client, addressing concerns and ensuring their vision is reflected in the final designs.
  • Participate in meetings with the client and key stakeholders to discuss design progress, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with project goals.

Competency Requirements:

  • Proven experience in architectural design review for large-scale construction projects, with a deep understanding of both design and construction processes.
  • Expertise in reviewing architectural designs for compliance with local regulations, client specifications, and international best practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, and sustainability standards as they pertain to architectural design.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to provide clear feedback and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in architectural design software and project management tools, with a methodical approach to managing design review tasks.

Minimum Requirements:

    Education:

  • BSc Holders: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from a recognized Western-accredited university, with over 15 years of relevant experience.
  • MSc Holders: Master’s degree in Architecture from a recognized Western-accredited university with over 12 years of relevant experience.

    Professional Membership:

Chartered membership in a recognized institution (e.g., RIBA, AIA, or equivalent).

Experience:

A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in architectural design review and construction management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role on large-scale infrastructure or public works projects.

Language Skills:

Fluency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in Arabic is an asset.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities, ensuring architectural designs are feasible, compliant, and optimized for construction.

  • Sustainable Design Expertise: Proven experience in incorporating sustainable design principles and green building certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM) into architectural projects.
  • Digital Design Proficiency: Advanced skills in using BIM (Building Information Modeling) software such as Revit for managing complex architectural designs and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
