The Senior Electrical Utility Engineer is responsible for overseeing the design, installation, and commissioning of electrical utility systems in large-scale infrastructure projects.
The role requires ensuring that all electrical systems meet project specifications, safety standards, and local regulations while collaborating with various engineering disciplines.
The engineer will supervise electrical works on-site, resolve technical issues, and manage project documentation and reporting to ensure successful project execution and handover.
Responsibilities:
- Design Review and Approval: Review and approve electrical system designs to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and local regulations. Provide expert feedback to enhance design efficiency and practicality.
- Site Supervision and Project Management: Supervise the installation of electrical systems, including power distribution networks, lighting, and safety systems, ensuring quality, budget adherence, and timely completion.
- Coordination with Other Disciplines: Collaborate with mechanical, civil, and architectural teams to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems with other infrastructure components.
- Testing, Commissioning, and Compliance: Lead testing and commissioning activities, ensuring that all electrical systems are operating safely and efficiently. Ensure compliance with local codes and best practices.
- Technical Issue Resolution: Address technical issues during the design, installation, or operation phases of the electrical systems, coordinating with teams to implement effective solutions.
- Client Liaison and Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for electrical utility matters, maintaining clear communication with clients and ensuring their requirements are fully met.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of all electrical utility-related activities, including design reviews, installation progress, quality control, and commissioning documentation. Ensure documentation is complete for project handover.
Competency Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Senior Electrical Utility Engineer in large-scale infrastructure projects, especially within international PMC contracts.
- Extensive hands-on experience in electrical system design, installation supervision, and quality control.
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution, lighting systems, and their integration into complex infrastructure projects.
- In-depth knowledge of local electrical codes and safety standards.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- For BSc Holders: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university, with over 15 years of relevant experience.
- For MSc Holders: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university with over 12 years of relevant experience.
Professional Membership:
Membership in a recognized chartered institution (e.g., IET, IEEE).
Language Skills:
English proficiency is mandatory.
Professional Experience:
- A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in electrical utility engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
Other Skills:
- Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal & written) for effective stakeholder interaction.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and systematic project management skills, ensuring efficient execution of electrical utility tasks.
- Detail-oriented, with a focus on maintaining the highest quality and safety standards in electrical systems.
- Proficiency in Electrical Utility Design: Extensive experience in designing and reviewing complex electrical distribution systems in large-scale projects.
- Leadership in Site Supervision: Proven ability to lead and manage electrical installation teams, ensuring that projects meet safety, quality, and budgetary goals.
